AN EMBOIRDERED SILK RANK BADGE AND A GLASS BEAD COURT NECKLACE Late Qing dynasty The first, a square 'lion' (second rank) military badge embroidered in polychrome silk thread with a lion standing atop a rock emerging from waves strewn with 'Auspicious Emblems' above lishui stripes, the sky filled with further emblems and a red sun, all within a scrolling floral border stitched in gold-wrapped threads; and a court necklace consisting of 108 yellow glass beads separated by four large circular blue glass beads suspending three subsidiary strings of 10 smaller red glass beads terminating in tear-drop shaped glass pendants, all attached to a thicker silk strand suspending a thin-sectioned ovoid blue glass pendant and additional blue glass teardrop-shaped pendants. 11 x 11in (27.9 x 27.9cm) overall; 43 1/2in (110.5cm) long (2).
