Lamp, Duffner and Kimberly, Open Top, c. 1910
Lamp.
Maker: Duffner & Kimberly.
Marks: "534 D" on shade ring.
Age: Circa 1910
Description: Open top model with cast bronze arms extending from the glass to the middle which supports the Duffner shade ring. Top and bottom ovals are done in mauve. Diamonds are done in a granite backed yellow. The larger panels are amber. Three socket brass base with bell shaped finials on the pulls.
Size: 24" H x 18" Diameter.
Weight: 13lbs
Condition: Very good. Approximately eight tight hairlines.
History: Duffner & Kimberly was a New York based firm that introduced designs of stained glass lamps in 1905 simulating the manner of Tiffany Studios. A leading designer, Howard Howell, led the firm towards commercial success but by the recession of 1908-09, such luxury goods of high quality faltered and the company ceased production and declared bankruptcy in 1913. The productive life of the Duffner &
