African-American "Folk Art" Pictorial Sampler
c. 1900 Turn-of-the Century Vintage African-American "Folk Art" Style Pictorial Sampler, in its Original Frame, Very Fine.
Vintage African-American Black "Folk Art" Style Pictorial Sampler that measures 16.5" x 17.5" and is housed in a 17.75" x 18.75" simple black painted wooden frame (no date). It is said to have come from an old Massachusetts farmhouse and the owner could not provide the history of this piece.
This African-American Folk Art style sampler has interesting imaged motifs including a "Freedom Key", a "Heart", a "Rope Climbing Monkey", plus "Black Children Playing Ball", another group of children "Playing with a Monkey," and several other interesting decorative elements including a "Hunting Scene" at center with the initials "N M G" above. The colors in this large size sampler are vibrant and the condition is very good overall. This Sampler would be excellent for display.
