Includes (1) 1796 signed land grant for Gideon Hill Wells and Richard Hill Morris for a tract of land near Lackawannack Creek on November 10, 1796. Signed by Thomas Mifflin. (2) 1797 signed land grant for Jacob Rhodes for a tract of land near Canemaugh Creek in Somerset County on March 13, 1797. Signed by Thomas Mifflin. Both framed. Thomas Mifflin was a merchant, soldier, and politician. He joined the Continental Army in 1775. He was an aide to George Washington and was the Quartermaster General. He signed the United State Constitution. He also helped write the Pennsylvania State Constitution and served as the first Governor of Pennsylvania, 1790-1799. 13-3/4" to 14-1/4" long x 24" to 25" wide.
