DESCRIPTION: Scrapbook belonging to General Albert Hummel Stackpole (1897-1971), a veteran of both World Wars who would retire with the rank of Major General. Includes pre-1940s ephemera at the front, including his service in the First World War, the 1920s, and his old 1926 passport. Also includes an autographed photo and newspaper clippings featuring Jeanette MacDonald (1903-1965), an American actress and signer who was one of the most active celebrities that performed for American troops in WWII. MacDonald was hosted by Stackpole during one of her performances. Also includes a page noting Gen. Stackpole's travels to Tibet during the war, along with 2 Chinese military patches. Additionally contains documents concerning Stackpole's promotions, including to Brigadier General. MEASUREMENTS: 14-1/2" high x 12-1/4" wide. CONDITION: Rubbing to boards. Some pages loose.
