To Which is Added, the Manuel Exercise & Evolutions of the Cavalry as Practised in the Late American Army. Printed in Bennington, Vermont by A. Haswell & Co. 1803, 140 pages. In likely early 1800s replacement wood boards with leather spine. Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben (1730-1794) was a Prussian military officer and Founding Father who used this book to help aggressively train and modernize the Continental Army. A later, posthumous edition from an early Vermont publisher with additional information regarding cavalry training. MEASUREMENTS: 6-5/8" high x 4" wide. DESCRIPTION: Rubbing and loss to spine and boards. Text block split throughout with pages detached, although believed complete. Includes two foldout plates of training movements at back, of which the second one is partially missing. An opportunity for rebinding and preservation. AJ.
