Description
This censer and its cover are crafted from mottled green and lavender jadeite, taking the shape of a begonia. Each lobe of the quatrefoil body features a carved cartouche that encloses a blooming stem and is adorned with a small flower sprig handle at the center. The cover is intricately carved with a floral scroll design and is topped with a finial resembling a flower head. The stone itself transitions smoothly from a gentle lavender shade to a subtle apple-green tone. The censer measures 4 3/8 inches (11.2 cm) in width and was acquired by the current collector from Christie's New York in March 2013.
