From China, Liao Dynasty (AS 907-1125) The handle, made of grey agate, features a gold mount at one end. It is intricately carved in openwork, depicting two pairs of egrets standing amidst lotus plants on one side and scrolling stems of sagittaria sagittifolia on the other side.
