Prussian School, mid-18th century Portrait of King Frederick William I of Prussia (1688-1740) wearing the insignia of the Prussian order of the Black Eagle and holding a baton in a landscape oil on canvas 66 x 43cm Provenance: Bonhams and Brooks, London, 26th April 2001, lot 300, when acquired by the late Barry Lock (1934-2021) The present composition is closely based on the prototype of the monarch created by Antoine Pesne (1683-1757) and his studio. Framed 85 x 62cm
