A marvelous 3-dimensional oil painting on sculptural canvas depicting an abstract op art design in bright orange, ruby reds, hues of ochre by Michigan artist Larry Butcher. Hand signed and dated 1971 on the verso. This is a statement painting for any modern or retro designed space. From a private collection in Birmingham, MI. Dimensions: 27.75"w x 2.25"d x 33"h. In very good vintage condition. Larry Butcher, is a retired professor emeritus of art from Delta College where he taught painting and drawing for 39 years. He holds BS and MA degrees from Central Michigan University and post-graduate work from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Butcher has exhibited his paintings, drawings and mixed media work since 1965. He has had 21 one man shows and is in the collection of the Saginaw Art Museum, Flint Institute of Arts, Alden B. Dow Center for Art and Design, Dennos Museum Center as well as over 400 private and public collections. Larry Butcher's art relates to the evidence of living and the passing of time. Many of the themes in Butcher's work honor the fragile impermanence of life.
