Description
An antique cast bronze sculpture of Guanyin. Circa: mid to the late 19th century. The artwork represents Guanyin, a character of Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese mythology, a bodhisattva or a deity who appears mainly in a female form, saving people from all sorts of disasters. The face has a meditative expression and the full lips form a slight smile. Precious jewelry adorns the chest area. The richly pleated garment covers the body of the goddess and the wide hems are decorated with a foliage pattern. The sculpture is adorned with gilding. Mounted on a footed figural stand, made in a shape of a lotus flowers, engraved with detailed patterns, and decorated with a pair of handles and a removable cover with a sculpture on top.
