Haitian sculptor Nacius Joseph hand carved this figurative centerpiece from a single piece of wood. It represents four nude men with arms outstretched, holding an offering platter that is supported at its center by a thick, tightly carved round base. Joseph is the most recognized Haitian Folk sculptor. His wood carvings reflect his personal beliefs in voodoo that transpires in his sculptures in the round and his reliefs. Author Selden Rodman in "Where Art is Joy: Haitian Art, referred to Nacius Joseph as a "Sculptor of Genius."
