Description
Vintage hand carved trench art bookends. Both bookends have a carved in palm tree and eagle design with "1943" carved in clouds, one bookend reads "South Pacific" and the other reads "US Navy Seebees 87th". Possible Koa or Monkey Pod Wood. The Seabees were a US Naval Construction Battalion, the 87th were a hard working Seabee outfit and did everything asked and expected of them from the Soloman Islands through the war's end in Okinawa. Good overall condition with wear from age, no major damage, natual splits and veining from wood. Each measure approximately 7"0H x 7"W x 6.5"L
