Edward Pope Cranch and Fanny Auckland, attribution for Rookwood Pottery
Early Dull Finish Glaze lidded mug
USA, c. 1881

7.375 h x 6.125 w x 4.5 d in (19 x 16 x 11 cm)
Though unsigned by either of the artists, the nail head patterns and hand-incised scene on gray clay body allude to the mug being their collaborative work.
Mug features a rider on horseback being chased by Satan. Incised manufacturer's mark to underside 'Rookwood Pottery'.
