Mug features the funeral scene of the protagonist from the old New England ballad Mournful Ballad of Isaac Abbott, frequently illustrated by the artist. Glazed artist's cipher to body. Impressed manufacturer's mark, date, number and glaze designation to underside 'Rookwood 1886 260 S' with incised inscription 'Isaac Abbott 22'.
