Description

Western Europe or North America, ca. 19th century CE. A brass weight used with balance scale sets. This heavy piece was probably commercially used rather than domestic – ideal for a shopkeeper or merchant. The dense, 2 lb. or (0.9 kg) discoidal shape has a shallow indentation carved into the upper face which is stamped "CS" and a smaller "WLV" within a rectangle. The indentation was likely for stacking and cupping other weights. Size: 3.6" Diameter x 0.75" W (9.1 cm x 1.9 cm)
