Description
Likely Italian work, the hilt of characteristic form, with broad, straight quillons of quadrangular section with expanded terminals, and large double ring guards terminating in a cusped langet. The massive, multifaceted pommel of flattened spherical form, the wooden grip of characteristic form retaining its sharkskin covering with an engraved silver band at either end. The massive, finely wrought double-edged blade quite broad, tapering continuously to the tip and wrought with a pair of short fullers at either forte, together with a central fuller running approximately a third of its length, struck with series of three conjoined circles, OOO, representing the Holy Trinity, and a series of double Is, II, an acronym for IESUS IUDICAT (Jesus Judges.)
