Description
Native American, Western United States, Plains Tribes, ca. mid-20th century CE. A charming vintage rawhide and cotton doll, representing a Native American man in supple deerskin, clothing most often associated with Plains tribes. Simple beading and a dried hide face, painted with eyes and mouth. The hair is made from cotton threads and tied back in braids. Size: 11.5" L x 5" W (29.2 cm x 12.7 cm)
Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010
