Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A fabulous free-blown vessel, comprised of delicate blue-green glass, with a concave base and a rough pontil. The bulbous body gently tapers to a tubular neck, with a wide mouth and rolled rim, and a small trail of extraneous glass rests on one side of the neck. The exterior displays light earthen deposits atop thick layers of flaky silvery iridescence, and notable areas of fiery rainbow iridescence is visible beneath that in hues of amethyst, sapphire, citrine, and emerald. A lovely example! Size: 3.25" H (8.3 cm).

Condition
Surface wear commensurate with age, small chips to rim and body, with earthen and mineral deposits throughout. Wonderful layers of silvery and rainbow iridescence are visible on the exterior.
