AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) FOLK ART PORTRAIT OF A DOCTOR, oil on canvas retaining likely original stretcher, waist-length depiction of a handsome bearded figure seated in an interior, the red drape behind him pulled back to reveal a library of medical texts, no signature located. Housed in a period, possibly original, molded giltwood frame. Circa 1840. 33" x 27" sight, 37 1/4" x 31" OA.

Very good overall visual condition with minor scattered craquelure and areas of discoloration. Very minor scattered inpainting to figure and background. Frame with minor wear.
