Description
1689 Glorious Revolution Scotland 1ed Robert Ferguson on King William of Orange
Robert Ferguson, also known as the Plotter, was a 17th-century Scottish, Jacobite controversialist who published numerous political pamphlets and tracts in the years leading up to the Glorious Revolution. In fact, in 1689, many of Fergusons best and most important pamphlets were written most of which dealt with the deposition of James II the year prior.
According to Zook, Ferguson was approached to head the Scottish grievances against King William of Orange.
“Ferguson clarifies his continued support for the king, but questions Williams unwillingness to oblige the Scottish parliament in all its demands”.
Ferguson highlights King Williams inadequacies as king, claiming that much of his shortcomings came from relying on the “former tools of James II” (Zook).
This 1689 first edition pamphlet was published in Glasgow and is considerably rare.
