This work, direct from the artist's estate, is an example of his trademark style and technique, though in a completely different color palette. The crystalline nature of this painting offers new possibilities for interpreting Jerry McKeehan's other abstracted compositions. Besides offering a vision of brilliantly abstracted landscapes and fantastic subterranean worlds, the spreading shafts of paint on this canvas also bring to mind random, naturally occurring spicate shafts of quartz clusters radiating downward - perhaps explaining the title, Crystal City.
