Approx 7 1/2 x 4 3/4 in. boudoir photograph on olive green cardstock mount (great tonality and light spotting to print; mount with light edge/corner wear); framed to 16 x 12 1/2 in. (not examined out of frame). Mount recto bear's Choate's Carlisle imprint. Image features 11 male and female students in uniform, mostly teenagers Mount recto with Choate's imprint.

[With:] Boudoir card featuring a group of 9 male and female students in suits and uniforms, identified by pencil inscription on verso as "Arapahoe group." Carlisle, PA: Choate, ca 1884. Choate's imprint to verso along with ink inscription dating the photograph to 17 December 1884. -- Boudoir card featuring a group of 12 male students wearing suits and uniforms (nearly fully separated along diagonal crack). Carlisle, PA: Choate, n.d. Choate's imprint on verso along with a listing of image titles in the series. Faint pencil inscription to verso reads, "Wan-Koo-m'teh[?]" -- Together, 2 boudoir cards featuring mostly teenaged students in school dress. Each approx. 7 3/4 x 5 in., or smaller, on cardstock mounts, with significant toning and soiling throughout, and chipping/loss/wear to edges and corners of mounts.

John N. Choate (1848-1902) began a long photographic career at Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1879 when the famous Carlisle Indian Industrial School was founded.
