An incredible three page letter written from Wahington Oct 24th during CiviL War by an adjutant who did the rolls in camps he mentions DOZENS of camps by name how many sick troop movements etc BUT the STELLAR part is his account of two "colored women" who were drug behind an officers horse in handcuffs and what their crime was and that the country he said "is not free yet" this is a unique military perspective not a civilian one incredible this was kept in the Robert E Lee family archives until NOW with COA
