HALLMARKS: Hallmarks on the loop: 84 silver standard, master's initials 'AH' in Cyrillic for August Wilhelm Holmstrom - famous FABERGE workmaster - please see information below.

WORKMASTER: August Wilhelm Holmstrom (Swedish August Wilhelm Holmstrom, 1829, Helsingfors, Grand Duchy of Finland - 1903, Russian Empire) is a Finnish jeweler, a master of the firm of Karl Faberge in St. Petersburg. He studied at the Petersburg jeweller Herold, in 1850 became an apprentice. In 1857 he became a master and founded his own workshop. In the same year he took over the management of Gustav Faberge's workshop in St. Petersburg. Along with the well-known Faberge eggs, Holmstrom created a number of high-quality, exclusive and valuable ornaments that are currently stored in the Hermitage.

WIKIPEDIA: A FABERGE egg is a jewelled egg created by the House of FABERGE, in St. Petersburg, Imperial Russia. Virtually all were manufactured under the supervision of Peter Karl Faberge between 1885 and 1917, the most famous being the 50 'Imperial' eggs, 43 of which survive, made for the Russian Tsars Alexander III and Nicholas II as Easter gifts for their wives and mothers.
