(1912-1996) American artist, best known for his illustrations of beloved children’s books like ‘Charlotte’s Web’, ‘Robin Hood’, and the ‘Little House’ series. A great group of four original pencil sketches signed with initials. The first is a study of a cottonmouth snake on 8 in. x 11 in. sheet; another depicts a man with gun and mythical beast, 8 in. x 11 in.; a third shows scenes from a living room, titled ‘Ch. III’, also on an 8 in. x 11 in. sheet; and a drawing of a woman pushing a stroller on a page which has been folded to measure 12 in. x 10 in., numbered ’45.’ This lot also includes three small cards printed with scenes from ‘Robin Hood’, each signed with initials. Together seven pieces, very good.
