Partly-printed D.S. with his steel stamp facsimile signature, 1p. folio parchment, Washington, Sep. 10, 1866, a promotion of John Christopher to the rank of Major by Brevet for '...gallant and meritorious services at the battle of Chickamauga, Georgia...' Also bearing a facsimile signature of Secretary of War EDWIN M. STANTON. Folds, else fine condition, beautifully matted and framed in an ornate silver wood frame.
