Description
A neat vintage soldier’s relic, World War I era, a 15 in. square silk scarf printed with a border of bright international flags, and four images of sailors from the USS Connecticut, Ohio, and New York at the middle in various war-time scenarios: one sailor is lectured to ‘be good’ by his wife before dispatch, another group is ‘homeward bound’ in a wagon, a third says goodbye to a ‘sweetheart’ on his last day in port, and a fourth, titled ‘blowing her off’, shows a jaunty soldier sounding a bugle behind a beleaguered working girl, drinking from a pilsner glass! And thus this most durable phrase is born….?Folds, light soiling and wear, else very good.
