Description
An original British Commonwealth ‘slouch’ hat bearing insignia of the 19th Indian Infantry Division, used during the Burma Campaign, 1941-1944. Made of khaki felt with a tan pugaree, and stamped ‘HALLS & PHILLIPS LTD. 7 ½ 1942’. Leather headband in very good condition with chin strap present, also in very good condition. Multipiece, embroidered tan insignia sewn on left underside of brim displays a fist wielding a dagger. The 19th Indian – also known as the ‘Dagger Division’ - was raised in 1941 and played a prominent role in the final days of the Burma Campaign, participating in the capture of Mandalay and Rangoon.
