A Japanese Bronze Okimono of an Elephant Being Attacked by Tigers Signed Mitsumoto
Meiji period (1868-1912), a bronze sculpture of two tigers attacking a large elephant, one to the front, and one on its back, the elephant raises his trunk high and his legs appear to be in motion as if to march forward, a finely cast okimono with very detailed texture to elephant's skin and layers of stripes to the tigers, incised to the underside of the elephant's belly "Mitsumoto."
