Description
This exceptionally rare and important poster was created by the noted artist, Pierre Bonnard (1867 - 1947) to promote the magazine called La Revue Blanche ("The White Review"). La Revue Blanche created annual posters for their anniversary issue; Toulouse Lautrec would create the poster the year following this one. Here, a classically chic Parisian picks up her Revue Blanche from a street stand newspaper boy. The extreme flattened planes that compose her body and the boys are an important development of graphic design history.Pierre Bonnard has been described as "the most thoroughly idiosyncratic of all the great twentieth-century painters", and the unusual vantage points of his compositions rely less on traditional modes of pictorial structure than voluptuous color, poetic allusions and visual wit. Identified as a late practitioner of Impressionism in the early 20th century, he has since been recognized for his unique use of color and his complex imagery. - WikipediaThis is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
