Animistas, (Portfolio of five prints).
Hand pulled Intaglio prints, 2022. Each signed, titled, dated, and numbered, from an edition of five portfolios. Titled, kicks Iron Spits Fire Gallo y Asabache Schomburg Curates Monument to Lovers, and America Came from Nothing, respectively. 660x501 mm; 26x19 3/4 inches, sheet of each.
The title, Animistas, (animism), is the belief that natural objects, natural phenomena and the universe itself possess souls.
Earning a film degree from WNET Film and Television School and a fine arts degree from the School of Visual Arts, NY, Marcos Dimas is well versed in film, painting, sculpting and print making. He was a co-founder of El Taller Boricua, NY. His works are in the collections of: Museo del barrio, NY; the Museo de arte Contemporario, Ponce PR; and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C.. Dimas is currently Executive Director of Taller Boricua, NY.
