Description
Group of Antique Grand Tour Bronze and Spelter Souvenirs. Including a spelter Renaissance style ewer, a bronze bust of Dante, a contemporary Venetian Lion of St. Mark, and a bronze Lion of Lucerne, on an iron base. After the stone relief monument in Switzerland, designed by Bertel Thorvaldsen and hewn in 1820–21 by Lukas Ahorn, which commemorates the Swiss Guards who died when revolutionaries stormed the Tuileries Palace in Paris during the French Revolution in 1792. Size: Ranging from 3'' x 4'' x 1'' (8 x 10 x 3 cm) to 11'' x 6'' x 3.5'' (28 x 15 x 9 cm).
