Description
Early Southern Pine Blanket Chest with Drawers. Circa first quarter 19th Century. A very unusual piece probably with a Georgia or Alabama origin. The chest has lift-top blanket storage above two drawers. Original keyhole escutcheon, turned legs, chamfered panels, wooden pin hinges, square nails and dovetail drawers. Provenance: Harold Boone Estate, Tupelo, Mississippi. Measures 42 1/2" High X 39 3/4" Wide X 23" Deep including knobs. Condition - Some old brown paint with wear. top has wear, bow and is missing hasp. One post has two holes with wooden pegs. The pegs could have been original. This piece has considerable wear from use and age. Missing one pull and small wood chips from frame and pulls.
