Description
A PAIR OF GEORGE III SILVER SALVERS
By Robert Gray and Son, Glasgow, 1819
Each on three vine and scroll feet, engraved with an armorial and motto within a band of vine leaves and with gadrooned rim, diameter 25.7cm, weight 38oz.
Footnotes:
This is the armorial of the CRAWFURD family, later MacKNIGHT-CRAWFURD of Ratho and the feudal Barony Cartsburn, co. Renfrew, specifically William (MacKnight) CRAWFURD (died 1855), 7th Baron Cartsburn. He was the son of Thomas MacKNIGHT of Ratho by Christian CRAWFURD (died 1818) 6th Baroness of Cartsburn. Thus he succeeded to the title in 1818. It is believed that he married in 1820 Jane PERRY and had issue that included an elder son Thomas MacKnight CRAWFURD (1820-1909) 8th Baron Cartsburn.
Condition
Both in good condition with good marks and no issues to report. A few very light surface scratches only.
