Description
A groovy rainbow wave suspended in the clouds plays host to elegant sailboats in this fun image created for the 1976 Summer Olympics. The 1976 Summer Olympics were hosted by Montreal, Canada. Montreal is a harbor town along the St. Lawrence River and has an extremely active port. For access to better sailing conditions, the sailing event was held in Kingston, Ontario which is located on the bucolic freshwater Lake Ontario. The 1976 Olympics were the first Summer games held after the disastrous 1972 Munich Olympics, in which 17 people were killed in a terrorist attack that involved Palestinian, Israeli, and German deaths. The focus in Montreal was on a safe and secure event that also promoted the peaceful coexistence of the many cultures and religions present in the city.Pierre-Yves Pelletier (1983 -) is a French Canadaian graphic designer who has worked extensively in Quebec, Canada. He is most known internationally for his designs for the 1976 Summer Olympics as its Director of Publications, and within Canada for designing over 100 stamps for the country's postal service. This is an original vintage poster, not a reproduction. It is printed on heavyweight paper and is in excellent condition. We fully guarantee the authenticity of our items.
