Historical Description: Created in 1968, this original color etching and aquatint with carborundum and cement imprint is hand signed by Joan Miró (1893 – 1983) in pencil in the lower right margin. Printed by Art Adrien Maeght, Paris and numbered 36/75 in pencil in the lower left margin on Mandeure rag paper with deckle edges; published by Maeght Editeur, Paris. Dramatically textured, Miró depicts an abstracted profile of a human figure. Reminiscent of Picasso’s abstract female sculptures, this image is characterized by a large nose which interrupts the graceful slope of the forehead.
