Description
CARE AND REPAIR OF JAPANESE PRINTS
Book by Carl Schraubstadter
Originally published 1948, 132 pages, this second edition with updated terminology published 1978 by Asian Conservation Laboratory
FROM THE BACK COVER
A small but invaluable book for all collectors, museum currators and scholars who constantly handle Japanese woodblock prints. Carl Schraubstadter, one of the prominent early Westerners to collect Japnest prints, first published this text in 1948. The current wide interest in Japanese prints among beginning and advanced collectors has made this little text, long out of print, extremely useful.
Many new conservation methods havebeen introduced into the "Care and Repair of Japanese Prints" since the author's text was published in 1948. The publisher, therefore, has included an addendum by Doanda Randall, prominent contemporary conservator of Japanese prints and the Executive Director of the Asian Conservation Laborator, Inc. The addndum includes changes in technical terms, chemical names and more up-to-date procedures.
