Two Minstrel Show Posters ca. 1910s with Blackface Play "The Black Vamp"
Two oversized posters advertising Minstrel shows, together with a short published play. The two posters measure 42.5" x 30.5", ca. 1910s. The first advertises Neil O'Brien Super Minstrels with Bert Swor. Published by J.H. Tooker Print Company, New York. The second advertises Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wilber and Supporting Company. Published by The Enquirer, Job Printing Company, Cincinnati. Both posters have some areas of dampstaining, creasing, and light wear. Both are linen backed and have bold, bright colors. The play is "The Black Vamp: A Blackface Act" by Arthur Leroy Kaser, one of Denison's Blackface Plays. Chicago: T.S. Denison & Co., 1921. On page 2, the owner has written the actors playing each role in pencil. With creasing, light wear, toning, and soiling. Tape throughout the book to any tears and loose pages.
