After 28-years as a studio artist and instructor at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA, Lane has settled in Bluffton, SC, just west of Hilton Head Island. Lane draws inspiration from the coastal light and lush landscapes. Her vibrant oil paintings are in private and public collections throughout the world. “I embrace the world through color… oil painting is my joy and often, my savior.” Lane’s evocative “spirit-scapes” are drenched in color using a loose impasto application along with old master glazing techniques. This creates oil paintings with unique textures and luminosity. Layers of brush work and palette knife application create depth and mystery within each canvas.
