Description
Avni Arbas, Turkish, French, 1919 to 2003, triptych oil painting on board depicting a Figurative composition, 1961. Inscribed, Arbas, Paris, and dated, on the backside. Framed. Avni Arbas is known for Still life, portrait, figure and genre painting. Avni Arbas was born in Istanbul in 1919. He studied under Leopold Levy in the Paintings Department of the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts, currently known as Mimar Sinan University. He moved to Paris in 1946 and lived there until 1976. His works are in several international museums and institutions around the world, such as the Picasso Museum in Antibes and Fine Arts Gallery in Amman. In his paintings, in the transformation of reality into an art image, the original link with the nature is not broken, and the themes of his works are still life and figurative paintings mastered with a blurry and staining painting style. He solidly maintained his practice of observations and visual experiences and believed on a direct approach towards abstracting the image without challenge. One of a kind artwork.
