Nathan Solis (Nat) Koffman (American, Philadelphia, New York, 1910-1950) Woman Outside a Group of Dwellings, oil on canvas, signed lower left, framed. With accompanying book, "The Notebook of Nat Koffman," Emma Connors Orr, Abingdon Square Publications, 1951.
Dimensions: 20.75 x 20.5 in. canvas size, 30 x 35 in. as framed.
Condition: Very good, was cleaned and relined. No evidence of restorations or retouch under UV light.
Nat Koffman was born and lived most of his life in Philadelphia. He attended the Pennsylvania Academy and won a Barnes Foundation scholarship. He was commissioned for three murals at the Philadelphia Zoological Gardens in 1939 and in 1940 completed a mural for the Post Office in Hardinsburg, KY. He was a member of the Abingdon Square Painters group established by Harriet Fitzgerald in 1948.
