Eleven-Piece American Neo-Renaissance-Style Mahogany Dining Set

late 19th century, attributed to R. J. Horner, New York, commonly referred to as the "Man-of-the-Mountain" pattern, comprised of a circular extension table with one 14" leaf, h. 30", dia. 60", present ext. l. 74", opens to accommodate 88" of leaves, a server, h. 64-1/2", w. 53", d. 25", a sideboard, h. 88-1/2", w. 70", d. 28", two armchairs, h. 46", w. 26", d. 24", and six side chairs, h. 46", w. 22", d. 21".

In as found condition. All the pieces appear to retain their original finish. The table has minor scuffs and scratches to the top from use. Only one leaf present - this leaf is severely faded in color. The runners need some attention as they tend to get off track when pulled open. The chairs are in very good sturdy, condition. No sign of damage, and the upholstery is clean. Minor dryness to the finish along the bottom of the legs. The sideboard has a loose side panel to the base, needs some molding strips on the inside to hold it in place. Minor chips and losses to the carved crest. The wing is missing a feather. Another wing is completely replaced out of a resin material. The lion's heads are actually secret drawers. The server has some chips and losses to the carved crest. Minor shrinkage crack to the man on the left.
