This is one gorgeous rare Large Leaf Shaped Tray/Dish by Minton - Made in England.
It is made in around 1880. The Dish is properly marked with old Minton globe that dates it between 1872 and 1891 when the word 'England' was added.
The Dish is explicitly made in England for Mortlock's Oxford Street, known for selling products of very high quality.
The Dish is in the famous Rose, Pansy, Forget-me-not patter that was copied by many companies, including Shelly.
It is in an original Minton Pattern with small Rose, Pansy, and Forget-me-not flowers on snow white background.
The rim is decorated with rich gold border.
The dish is approximately 10 1/4" 10 1/4" by 10 1/4" and is 3 1/4" tall with the handle.
It is beautiful and will make a wonderful gift or will be a great addition to any vintage china collection.
Serving with this highly collectible, iconic set will turn a pleasant coffee break into a memorable occasion.

The Mortlock China Company was a merchandising rather than a manufacturing operation. Considered the most important china retailer in London in the early nineteenth century, it exercised enormous power and influence over the manufacturers, insisting that the products that Mortlocks sold should bear the Mortlock mark rather than that of the original maker.
The Mortlock product was of a high quality, with a Coalport dinner service for example, retailing for 200 guineas (equivalent to £20,000 today). A single dinner plate might sell for £8, six months’ wages for an agricultural labourer!
Mortlocks supplied a dessert service to the Duke of York on his marriage in 1893.
By 1873 Mortlocks were advertising themselves as retailers for Minton following their success at the 1851 Great Exhibition where Mintons won a major prize. The Mortlock stand featured a service in the then newly-rediscovered “Rose du Barry”, a long-lost Sèvres tint which became popular with super-rich nobility!
Mortlocks had a stand at the 1873 Exhibition in Vienna.
