Description
Northern Peru, Moche I, Ca 100 to 200 CE. Rare tumi (ceremonial knife) with platform scene with two figures. Figure #1 is a Sitting Lord-Warrior with a Owl Mask in Full Armor Holding an Atlatl in one hand and shield in the other, his eyes inlaid with shell & black Stone, his ear ornaments are inlaid with spondylus shell. He’s wearing a elaborate headdress and a large ornamented pectoral. Figure #2 is a kneeling attendant, with one arm raised in a pleading motion; his inlaid shell eyes have dark stone pupils his long, flowing hair trails down his back. A very sculptural and attractive example. Custom museum-quality stand. Tumi itself measures 8"L x 1-1/2"W at widest.
