Description
An antique late 19th to early 20th-century Russian round gold spice box with hinged lid. The enameled lid represents a hand-painted female portrait encompassed with grapevine. The lid is also embellished with a large ruby cabochon. Saint Petersburg assay mark, 56 gold standard, makers mark FK are on the inner side of the lid and on the bottom of the item. Weight: 58 grams. FK stands for Friedrich Christian Kochly, a Swiss jeweler and a senior representative of the St. Petersburg Foreign Handicraft Authority, his workshop in Saint Petersburg was active from 1849 until his death in 1911.
