Description
St. Petersburg Collection (British). Limited Edition guilloche enamel lidded egg box sculpture, designed by Theo Faberge (1922-2007), inspired by the original Faberge eggs created for Tsars Alexander III and Nicholas II as Easter gifts for their wives and mothers. Burgundy red exterior surface ornamented with encircling floral roses in 24K gold, sterling silver and green enamel. Romanov Imperial Crown finial, set with a cabochon ruby. The egg body opens to reveal an inner fabric lined compartment with additional gold roses, and gilt interior lid. Original ornamental interior piece missing, but will accommodate a ring or other jewelry. Signed and numbered to base THEO FABERGE NO. 3 (from a worldwide edition of 50), MADE IN ENGLAND decal. Lathe turned base. Includes custom blue velvet Faberge display box. Good condition with normal wear. Measures 7 1/4 in. x 3 3/4 in. (egg with top), 11 7/8 in. x 8 1/2 in. x 7 1/2 in. (box).
