Aloud Italie Engraving on paper Execudit by Hermanus Besseling (Active, 1721-1750) C. Sepp sculps 1744 12.5 x 12.25 inches (unframed) Hermanus Besseling (1706-1754) was a Dutch cartographer and publisher who worked in Amsterdam during the 18th century. He is known for producing a number of high-quality maps and atlases, which were highly regarded for their accuracy and detail. Besseling began his career as a bookseller, but he soon turned his attention to cartography and began to produce maps of the Netherlands and other regions of Europe. He worked closely with some of the leading mapmakers of his time, including Isaac Tirion and Jan Barend Elwe, and he produced a number of maps for their atlases. Overall good condition. Foxing and perimeter paper wear throughout.
