Description
Artist unidentified, 19th century: a series of 41 drawings on both sides of each leaf, 11 x 8 in.; stitched binding (variant of fukurotoji, without fold at fore-edge) with embossed green wraps, centering a brushed title label; early printed label inside back cover.
Provenance: From the Estate of Lionel Katzoff (1936-2022) longtime Baltimore resident and collector of Japanese art. Mr. Katzoff's collection of hand-printed Japanese books was the subject of an exhibition, "Gathering Jewels," at the Walters Art Museum in 2004. Proceeds from the sale will go to the Walters.
