Chinese Tang Dynasty–518-902 AD. Early Tang Dynasty painted pottery head from mortuary figure. There are only minute traces of paint left on the head. This is a museum deaccessioned piece from the Iris &. B. Gerald Cantor Center for the Visual Arts, Stanford University. Dimensions: 4 1/4" H x 3-3/4" x 3". Provenance: Ex Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Center for the Visual Arts, Stanford University, Art Antiques, 2007 acquired by Dr. Henry Cherrick, a professor and dean at UCLA School of dentistry who pioneered government programs promoting dental care in HIV/AIDs patients. He was an avid collector of fine art and antiquities and died at the age of 84 in 2023. Original documents included.
